Breakfast foods

New England Breakfast Muesli

Ingredients   1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup rolled oats
1 1/2 cups water, heated to a boil
2 cups yogurt
4 to 6 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
1/4 teaspoon vanilla (optional)
Grated lemon rind (optional)
1 large unpeeled apple, cored and chopped
1 banana, sliced
1/2 cup fresh berries
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or toasted slivered almonds
Instructions  
Add the salt and oats to the water.
Remove from heat.
Stir to combine, then leave to soak overnight.
In the morning, add the yogurt, maple syrup,
and optional vanilla and lemon rind; stir.
Add the apple, banana, berries, raisins, and nuts;
stir gently to combine all ingredients.

Yield: 4 to 6 servings
